J.I.D talks about “never having,” so my interpretation of “never” comes from the way the song was performed, along with some of the themes in the video. The chorus in the song goes: Never been sh*t, never out, never do sh*t, damn. NEVER was the first single off the album.

This short and simple promotional video for the album might not have been like your typical documentary, but I think the message behind everything peaked my interest to dive deeper into the album. Finally the title of the album pops up to conclude the video. Cole driving the Saturn with J.I.D in the passenger seat vibing to music begin to play out. After explaining everything he has endured with the car, music proceeds to fade in, and shots of J. He talks about how the Saturn has been with him throughout many stages in this life, from getting kicked out of college – to his first shows he had to travel to. Opening with a shot of him smoking, he proceeds to show everyone his beat up Saturn that he still drives. With the duration only running about 2:14, you get a short look into J.I.D’s come up. Aside from the 12 track album, I wanted to talk about this short documentary that was shot for the project.
